Moving toward this intention in relationships is the goal of First View Counseling. It means entering into a process of maximum growth and maturity, of becoming our highest selves. It does not mean getting to a certain point on a continuum of perfection.
So many things block our path to growth and maturity, and much of counseling is about getting unblocked, unstuck, and choosing a path of growth.
Jesus saw people with this first view in mind. He treated them with great respect and dignity and it had profound effects on them. He often asked more questions than gave answers and sometimes respectfully withdrew to let people figure out solutions on their own.
